The foundation of the Eco-Runner Team at the end of 2005 was partly my reaction on the missing of the TU-Delft in the international Shell Eco-Marathon competition. The aim to build a vehicle which could drive as far as possible on one liter of fuel, together with the managing of a team was quite challenging and is certainly one of my best periods here at Delft. In the first year we successfully reached our goal of 500km on 1 liter of petrol. The founded Eco-Runner 1 car drove on the circuit of Rockingham 557km on 1 liter of standard petrol. A video

Continuing the leading of the team in the 2006-2007 year, a new goal of 2000km/liter was taken, and for this a radical new vehicle was designed. The design looked very promising and the starting quality of the build was  high, which resulted in for example a monocoque of very high quality which was completely designed an build by people without previous knowledge.

Regretfully this good line of working couldn't be kept and due to the insurmountable differences in opinions about the team's heading, lack of devotion and wrong decisions of my part, I was forced to leave the team. Still today, I'm  not convinced that the team's working quality is high enough to reach this marvelous goal in time. Only time will tell....

Edit 12-12-2007; I got some reactions of the Eco-Runner Team about what is written here. I didn't mend to attack the new team with this, I only wanted to say that in my opinion; IF the same mentality of the first half of 2007 is reigning in the team, I'm not convinced about the quality-performance of the team.
