In my years studying in Delft, I was involved in different student projects.
In 2004 & 2005 I participated in the Delft-University of technology Racing Team, or shortly said the DUTracing which participated in different formula student competitions. The aim is to give young undergraduate engineers the opportunity to design and build a racing car in a very challenging environment, and afterwards to race this car in a competition with different other universities. In that year the responsibility of the monocoque design and production was mine. I learned a lot in this year, and I would recommend everybody to do the same, because it is such a experience you will never forget

The foundation of the Eco-Runner Team at the end of 2005 was partly my reaction on the missing of the TU-Delft in the international Shell Eco-Marathon competition. The aim to build a vehicle which could drive as far as possible on one liter of fuel, together with the managing of a team was quite challenging and is certainly one of my best periods here at Delft. In the first year we successfully reached our goal of 500km on 1 liter of petrol. The founded Eco-Runner 1 car drove on the circuit of Rockingham 557km on 1 liter of standard petrol.

Continuing the leading of the team in the 2006-2007 year, a new goal of 2000km/liter was taken, and for this a radical new vehicle was designed. The design looked very promising and the starting quality of the build was high, which resulted in for example a monocoque of very high quality which was completely designed an build by people without previous knowledge.
Regretfully this good line of working couldn't be kept and due to the insurmountable differences in opinions about the team's heading, lack of devotion and wrong decisions of my part, I was forced to leave the team. Still today, I'm not convinced that the team's working quality is high enough to reach this marvelous goal in time. Only time will tell....

Nowadays, together with my first year's brother I'm again involved with the formula student project doing fundamental research on the producability of so called 'hollow stiffeners' while my brother is busy with the intake of the new DUT08 car. I will continue on this topic later on when I will publish a part of the research's results.
Also the project of the six-stroke engine is till running, but this is threaded in an other topic.
In April 2008, I will participate in the construction of a bridge for the "Maertens contest" (futher information soon)
